The promoters of Café Thulp, in their new venture to develop a barbecue restaurant, also wanted to create a bar with live music performances.  As the design partner of SilverNeedle Hospitality (SNH), a hotel group based out of Singapore, Sylvan Architecture was hired to design the building housing the BBQ restaurant (The Smoke Co) as well as the bar – named as Primal Bar.  True to its name, Sylvan chose to select materials that where in their elemental form such as bricks, metal and wood, finished to shades of dark grey.  The intent was to create an ambience that laid emphasis on lighting and acoustics.  A live performace stage was designed with unique lighting and acoustic set-up.  Primal Bar is now one of the most sought after destination for contemporary music bands and audience alike.
