The hotel is one of the most successful hotels in downtown Perth with very high levels of occupancy. In the hands of the earlier owners, it was called Citigate Perth. The current owners took over the property sensing sharp rise in demand once the then under construction Perth Arena is complete, which is located opposite the hotel.  A team of experts were hired to advise the owners on the extent, design and budget of retrofit to be undertaken to rebrand the hotel as a Four Points by Sheraton. Owing to modular construction design and intelligent planning, the project was completed in a record time of 298 days. The hotel was not shut down even for a single day during the retrofit. The hotel has also been recognised as one of the best hotels in Perth and been awarded “Superior Hotel Accomodation” for the year 2013 under the 4-4.5 star hotel category by the Australian Hotels Association (WA).
