Aspirations & Approach
We aspire to strongly establish our ideology of architectural practice is holistic, knowledge based and devoid of individual “style”. We adopt a research based approach to design since we see each building as a unique phenomenon with its own requirements, opportunities and limitations set within its own cultural context. In future, we plan to establish strong linkages with leading academic institutions, not-for-profit organizations and other specialists worldwide to enhance our knowledge base. We see ourselves soon growing into forerunners of the paradigm of holistic design in the field of architecture.
Work Process
We have a close knit team of highly qualified design professionals who undertake all research activities associated with each project. They draw from the rich international experience of the firm and in-house study material including codes and standards. All projects are simulated in-house using latest Building information Modelling software from initial stages and is continuously updated until the building construction is completed. We are thus able to detect construction conflicts early and resolve those before the construction is undertaken. Additionally, we provide continual support to our employers and their project team pertaining to detailed information on material quantities.

Owing to our wide exposure to international projects, we have been able to forge close relationships with a few leading specialists in allied fields of practice. Their expertise can be tapped as and when a specific need arises for the same.

About us
Buildings have always been conceived,designed and built to realize the aspirations of its owners. It required the vision of a master builder, who would give shape to these aspirations by tempering it with the needs of end user, aesthetic considerations, engineering design and construction techniques to be adopted. The master builder had to therefore possess an intimate understanding of all aspects of building design and construction. Buildings that were designed and built in this manner were seldom non-responsive to the local culture,climate or materials and therefore donned on air of timelessness.
With the advent of the scientific method, there has been a tendency to segregate knowledge in silos under the garb of specialization.Although this may have led to advancement in individual sphere of learning,it has happened at the expense of broad based understanding. Nowhere is this loss of holistic knowledge more evident than in building design. Building design, as it is practiced today, is compartmentalized into architectural design(space planning & aesthetic design), structural design, electrical design, mechanical design, facade engineering, so on and so forth. At a more fundamental level, the approach to design often fails to consider the strategy to be adopted for construction, further complicating the already fragmented practice of building design.Sylvan* Architecture has been established with the mission to bring about a change in the practice of architecture at a fundamental level by adopting a more broad-based, unified approach to building design that takes into consideration all aspects of design and construction.
The term Sylvan alludes to the habitat created by the woods. It offers shelters to all life forms, feeds them with food created from nature, distributed through the food chain and restored back to nature in the form of the basic elements. No forest, even while sustaining millions of life forms, depletes the available natural resources. We consider this as the greatest inspiration that mankind should adopt as a blue print to design our own self-sustaining habitat: be it building, colonies, cities or a whole nation.
